William Patino is an award-winning landscape photographer based in Te Anau in the South Island of New Zealand, with a passion for exploration and capturing the wilderness. As an avid teacher, Will’s training leaves participants both able and inspired to go out and create the best images of their lives. He runs private and small group photography workshops year-round in the South Island, focusing on helping photographers capture stunning landscape images. The photos seen in his portfolio are what he aims for participants to create themselves, being equipped with the knowledge on how to both see and capture a scene with the expression of their own artistic vision.
William believes landscape photography isn’t just about creating nice images but is an expression of experiences, emotions, and connection with nature. Close to the action, adapting to weather, chasing light, and having a laugh along the way is what his workshops are all about. Photography and time amongst nature has changed his life, and it’s an absolute privilege having shared countless moments out there with thousands of like-minded individuals over the years. His workshops cover everything from waterfalls, seascapes, forests, and mountains, teaching highly effective techniques for capturing light, creating depth, and mastering cameras. Personal instruction is provided throughout trips, along with post-processing tuition.
William’s workshop offerings include Ultimate New Zealand landscape photography workshops where participants stand under ancient waterfalls, become immersed within temperate rainforests, gaze up at towering mountains, and capture the majesty of New Zealand’s wilderness. With small group sizes of just six participants, his workshops provide a personal learning environment, allowing everyone to get the most out of these unforgettable experiences. A good portion of his portfolio is made up of aerial images, and he offers the option to add flights to workshops, working with pilots to align unique compositions and angles for participants to capture.
