Sampford Cathie

Sampford Cathie is a commercial photographer and videographer based in Wānaka, specialising in visual storytelling for places, people and brands. With over a decade of experience, Sampford serves homeowners, property managers, developers and businesses across Wānaka and Queenstown, capturing beautiful design-led spaces from boutique Airbnb rentals and high-end homes to architectural and commercial interiors. The business also creates clean, intentional photo and video content for local businesses and individuals, showcasing who they are and what they do for websites, social media and marketing campaigns. Sampford has a rare eye condition called Keratoconus which distorts eyesight and contributes to his unique, minimalistic photographic style. Starting his business in Auckland in 2012, he relocated to Wānaka in 2021 where he established his South Island operations. His work has earned numerous awards including recognition from REFOCUS Awards, Black & White Spider Awards, Asia Pacific Photo Awards, NZIPP IRIS Awards, and Best of Houzz from 2018 to 2021.
