Sarah Watkins is the photographer behind Lucalia Photography, an NZIPP Accredited Professional Photographer based in sunny Blenheim, Aotearoa New Zealand. Sarah specializes in documentary wedding photography, capturing real moments without direction, staging, or posing. Her approach is deeply personal and empathetic, stemming from the loss of her father as a child, which instilled in her a deep understanding of how precious life is and the need to document it. Sarah is passionate about capturing “real” life, believing it to be more meaningful and beautiful than anything staged. She is an outdoorsy person who grew up in the bush and loves to hike with her family. Her background in graphic design and photography, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Bachelor of Visual Communication (Honours), provides a strong technical foundation for her work. Clients praise her for her ability to make them feel at ease and for her warm, genuine personality, which makes her feel more like a friend sharing the day. Sarah’s work has been recognized with a Finalist nomination for the NZIPP New Zealand Documentary Photographer of the Year.
