Craig Turner-Bullock is a world-renowned dog photographer whose work has captured international attention and acclaim. Based in Christchurch, the self-confessed crazy cat daddy, puppy parent, and patisserie addict behind Furtography has been photographing pets since 2001, building a reputation for creating bright, glorious Technicolor images that celebrate the canine spirit.
Craig’s credentials are impressive. As an accredited Master of Photography II of the New Zealand Institute of Professional Photography, he made history in 2018 by winning New Zealand Portrait Photographer of the Year, the first time in NZIPP’s 80-year history that the award was given to images of non-humans. In 2020, he won the Dog category at the prestigious Animal Image Makers competition in America. He serves as an official ambassador for Fujifilm Global, and his work has been featured in National Geographic Wild, The New Zealand Herald, Dogs Today Magazine, and numerous other international publications.
Working with both commercial clients and private commissions worldwide, Craig’s mission is to have as many dog adventures as possible while capturing clients’ dream images. His unique project, Dogs of the World, sees him travelling across continents photographing 60 breeds in their ancestral homes, creating panoramic “Dogoramas” alongside candid portraits. This groundbreaking work marks the first time dogs have been captured in their native environments on such a scale.
Beyond client work, Craig is passionate about giving back, working with charities on adoption photographs and serving as an ambassador for the Kotuku Foundation Assistance Animals Aotearoa. He’s the photographer and author of three bestselling Penguin Random House books: Quake Dogs, which spent 10 weeks at number one on the New Zealand Bestsellers list, Quake Cats, and A Dog’s Life.
In 2019, Craig launched the Furtography Academy and co-founded Unleashed Education, providing training to help pet photographers worldwide find their own style.
