Lizann’s photography journey began in South Africa, inspired by watching and learning from her Dutch grandfather who taught her to capture candid moments in life. After immigrating to New Zealand at nineteen, she received her first DSLR camera for her twenty-first birthday and traveled the world with her now-husband, photographing beautiful moments along their journey. Settling in Otorohanga, where she got engaged, married, and started a family, Lizann discovered firsthand how quickly life passes and how important it is to preserve those fleeting moments.
Her photography philosophy centers on capturing genuine, unscripted moments that unfold naturally. Family sessions focus on authentic emotions and connections rather than formal poses, encouraging families to simply spend quality time together—hugging, tickling, and sharing laughter. These spontaneous interactions capture the true essence of each family’s unique story. Sessions can be held in the comfort of clients’ homes or picturesque outdoor settings throughout the Waikato region, ensuring personalized experiences that reflect each family’s preferences.
LSM Photography offers specialized newborn sessions designed to be relaxed and natural, always prioritizing baby’s comfort. Lizann provides both lifestyle newborn sessions ideally conducted between five and fourteen days old when babies are sleepiest, and unique forty-eight hour sessions that take place within the first two days of life, often at hospitals or birthing centers. These early sessions beautifully document precious first moments and provide perfect opportunities for siblings to meet the new baby.
Beyond family and newborn photography, Lizann captures maternity sessions, special events including birthdays, engagements, family reunions, and milestones, and works as a second shooter for weddings. She also offers commercial photography services.
